Jesus came to this earth to deliver men from the clutches of darkness. The Bible says, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it” (John 1:4,5). Today, the world has either fallen into the darkness of sin or guilt. It is to change this situation that Jesus came to deliver us from sin and the guilt of sin. This has been prophesied, “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined” and fulfilled in Jesus (Isaiah 9:2; Matthew 4:15). Yes, there was radiance wherever Jesus went.
In the Bible, we read an incident where everyone wanted the woman caught in adultery to be stoned to death. But Jesus said that he who was sinless among them could first cast a stone at her. None dared and Jesus told her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more. Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:11-12). Yes, Jesus came into this world to lighten your pathway. He will deliver you from the clutches of sin and guilt. He loves to bless you with freedom to enjoy the presence of His light!
A man called Job in the Bible affirmed, “By His light I walked through darkness” (Job 29:3) and the Psalmist too was confident that the Lord God would enlighten his darkness (Psalm 18:28). The prophet Micah again declared, “When I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me” (Micah 7:8). How beautiful are these confession of God’s promises! Today, take these God’s words into your heart and keep meditating on them. Only He can bring light to your path. When a loving heavenly Father is there for you, why do you want to stay in the darkness? Say this prayer and get closer to Him.
Prayer:
Loving heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your beloved Son Jesus Christ into this world. I believe that He is the light of this world. Lord, I bring all my dark areas to You. Let Your light shine in me. I cannot rectify by my own efforts. I surrender all failures to You. Let me see Your grace in my life. I believe that I am forgiven and my sins are thrown into the sea. I surrender myself to You to lead a life displaying Your glory. Help me to forget my failures and forgive myself to walk into victory. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
