Run to Win
Late. Dr. D.G.S Dhinakaran
The Bible foretells us that the Lord God will come with might, and His arm would establish His rule. His reward is with Him and His recompense would accompany Him (Isaiah 40:10). Hence, let us await His coming running our race looking to Christ Jesus. Word of God says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” (Heb.12:1, 2).
How would be the place that God is preparing for you and me – Heaven? No finite mind can ever imagine. Bible affirms, " What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" -- the things God has prepared for those who love him”(1 Corinthians 2:9). So, run your assigned race on this earth with great joy throwing away sinful distractions. Rewards and crowns are waiting for you!
Once, a world- class runner, invited to compete in a road race in Connecticut, on her way to the starting point, stopped her car at a gas station and asked for directions. She knew that the race started in the parking lot of a shopping mall. The station attendant also knew of such a race scheduled just up the road and directed her there. When she reached there, she was relieved to see that there were not many and the race officials were excited at having a renowned athlete show up for their race. She ran the race and won easily. Only after the race, did she come to know that the event she had took part was not the race to which she’d been invited. That race held several miles farther up the road in another town. Oh, she had gone to the wrong starting line, run the wrong course, and missed her chance to win a valuable prize.

What a pity to run in the wrong track even though talented to run! Beloved, Jesus said, “I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me” (Revelation 22:12). Only those who run their race according to the assignment of God will receive the incorruptible crown. Yes, He will reward you with crown of rejoicing, crown of glory, crown of life. How many crowns are you going to accumulate for yourself? What a joy it would be when you receive your reward for all the trials that you underwent with perseverance and patience. No labor of yours will ever go waste. Just keep running your race in the path fixed by Jesus and receive your crown, having success!
