A waiting reward
Mr. Samuel Dhinakaran
Every human being loves to be good to others. But human love has its own limitations. There are times when you are helpless, devoid of love from others. In this situation, remember that your Father in heaven showers rain on both good and the bad and causes the sun to shine on them. He died on the Cross for all of us without any partiality. His love and blessings are never partial. Would you reflect His image?
A woman, who always baked bread for her household, did few extra for hungry people who pass by her house. There came a hunchback man everyday to take away those breads on the window sill. He always muttered: “The evil you do stays with you. The good you do, comes back to you.” He never thought of thanking that woman personally. This woman got frustrated over this good deed for which she was never appreciated. The hunchback man repeated taking those breads and muttering those words. This irritated woman thought of teaching him a lesson for his ungrateful attitude. She poisoned the breads that was kept on the window sill and was taken aback by her own evil attitude. Immediately, she threw all those poisoned breads into a trash can. She kept good ones as usual. The hunchback man as usual came and took those breads and muttered in the same manner. The woman had a habit of saying a prayer for her son who ran away from house to come back soon with a changed heart, whenever she kept those breads on the sill. On that eve, she was surprised to hear a knock on the door and to see her son in tattered cloth. The woman aghast took him in and enquired all that had happened. She found that her son had collapsed out of hunger on that particular day on his way back home. This hunchback man who passed by this collapsed boy on the road, had given those breads which he had taken from that window sill. He was unaware of the fact that the boy was that woman’s son! The woman turned pale and breathless. She thought, if she would have placed those poisoned breads that day, it would have become a food for her own son! There came the words ringing in her ears: “The evil you do stays with you. The good you do, comes back to you.”

Dearly beloved, if those good breads could bless her own son passively, how much more your heavenly Father would have kept an account of all the good things that you do and reward you abundantly. For sure, you would receive His blessings for all every good word, action and thought. Yes, be good always. Even if you are not noticed or thanked for, be good to others consistently. For at the right time you would receive rewards on earth and also in heaven. This is what the Bible says: “Rejoice and be exceedingly glad for great is your reward in heaven” (Matthew 5:12). Do not grow weary in being good. God and His angels are waiting to drench you with praises, claps, gifts, crowns in heaven!
